Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS)

Driving assistance, not self-driving – 93% of new vehicles in the U.S. have ADAS

Every year, ADAS technologies prevent about 6 million crashes, 7,200 of them fatal, saving roughly $36.7 billion.

A technology still in development…

Below are the functional requirements that could be expanded and improved for two types of Advanced Driving Assistance Systems.

  • LKA – When the Lane Keeping Assistance System is temporarily not available, for example due to inclement weather conditions, the system shall inform the driver.
  • LDW – LDWs shall track lane boundaries where lane markings are clear and visible in daylight (sunny/cloudy), night times, and twilight (sunrise/sunset) lighting conditions.
